The 3 Main Reasons Why We Are Infatuated With Celeb Gossip

Why is it that many of us are fascinated with celebrities? Come on, you know it’s true! Who has not picked up the most recent gossip mag in the checkout line at the grocery store, and gotten their fix of celeb gossip? I know that I have! And you know those mags wouldn’t be there if nobody bought them!

So why do we girls and guys have such an obsession with following the lives of people we don’t know? Well read on for the top 3 reasons we love celebrity gossip, and especially wedding gossip!

Reason #1: It’s such a lot of fun living vicariously thru the lives of others. I mean let’s accept it – many of us will potentially never just jet off to the Caribbean to be married to a 20 something super model in a lavish and secret wedding attended by all of the largest names in Hollywood. We adore reading about celeb’s famous and infrequently infamous marriages because it lets us pretend and imagine what it’d be like to live a famous and fabulously wealthy life. I mean actually, what would it be like getting married in an Italian castle like Tom and Katie?

Reason #2: It makes us feel happier about ourselves! It’s just a fact of mankind’s nature that regardless of how bad our own lives seem to be, there’s always somebody else out there who will make you feel better about your own situation. Sure, you may be struggling to pay the bills with a night stocker job at the local Wal-Mart, but at least you did not get pregnant with octuplets and then have no-one in the media care about it! Sure, you may not have managed to have a million buck marriage on an exotic island, but at least your wedding is still intact after 10 years instead of 10 mins, like a certain country music star we all know. Rhymes with Benny Lesney?

Reason #3: Because it’s there! Often, celebs are like a train wreck – you do not need to look at, but you can’t look away! It is not like you would like to watch Brittany going down in flames and shaving her head bald, leaving K-Fed as the responsible parent ( yikes ) but dang, how are you able to not watch? And if they didn’t wish their antics splashed all over the media, then perhaps they shouldn’t be acting crazy! I mean, how many country stars do you see in the tabloids, besides the one mentioned above of course? Not a lot of, because they aren’t out wrecking Ferraris (cough, cough Sarah Harding).

So there you have it, the top 3 reasons we like celebrity gossip! It may be electrifying, it may be terrible, it may be amazing, but celeb gossip is always entertaining! And entertainment is the spice of life!

Why We Watch Celebrity Birthday Parties

Celebrities and their birthdays are always sources of entertainment for regular people. A birthday party for one of us is a calm affair with a cake, while theirs can cost millions of dollars. This is why these parties sell so many magazines–because many of us could never imagine a life that frivolous. It is fascinating. The way they spend their birthdays only contributes to the mystery and glamor of the celebrity.

For example, Naomi Campbell, famous bad girl of the modeling world, tends to go a little over-board with her parties. Not content to have just one birthday, she stretches it out into a three-day long party. She rents out a five star hotel for all of her A-list guests and spent almost two million dollars for the party that took place in 2006.

Every day of the party holds a different theme selected by Naomi. This means that guests not only have to bring her a present, as etiquette dictates, but are also forced to buy or bring specialized clothing in order to comply with her theme demands. Many cannot believe not only the price tag of the event, but the power she wields over others.

A more reasonable but still huge party was for Rhianna’s twenty second birthday. Her rumored boyfriend threw the shin-dig to worship the star, presenting her with a big diamond necklace and including all of her favorite things. Even the cake paid her homage, since its icing depicted her tattoos. He even surprised her and her guests with an exotic midget dancer!

Even more modest parties whet our appetite for celebrity behavior. When Ashton Kutcher turned thirty, his wife brought all his super-star friends (including her ex-husband) out to a five star dinner. They all dressed up and went to a club after dinner, closing it out and monopolizing the scene.

These parties are particularly interesting, not because of any wild events, but because many wish to know what goes on when the cameras are off. The mystery of their true behavior makes us really pay attention. The paparazzi followed the group all over that night to see if anyone was drunk, if there were any tensions or arguments, or try to glimpse an unscripted moment.

One man who did not get more sedate with his parties as he got older was the Sultan of Brunei. This fabulously rich ruler spent the most money that has ever been spent on a birthday party, almost thirty million dollars! Half of this price tag was a private Michael Jackson concert, which the Sultan bought out for his guests. The other half was made up of ridiculously expensive champagne and caviar, accommodations, parades and entertainment.

Though these parties may not be one hundred percent enjoyable to everyone and definitely require huge amounts of planning and ample headaches, there is a reason why we all crave the taste of the high life. It is a heady feeling to think that you could buy absolutely anything you want for such a superficial reason. Not only that, but to be able to make ridiculous demands and have them met and to get chummy with reclusive people is why we all want to learn as much as we can about these soirees.

New And Old Hollywood Actresses That Made It Big

Oscar nominations are always anticipated at the beginning of the year. This year the awards ceremony is particularly of interest because there are so many new stars that are being nominated. Older Hollywood actresses are still making it big with important nominations, but it’s the newest actresses that have caught the eyes of everyone.

Sandra Bullock is a well known actress. She gained her fame by starring in small roles and working her way up. 2009 was a big year for Sandra, because she was the leading actress in many big and well performing films of the year. She is being nominated for her astounding performance in “The Blindside”, where her character takes in a young boy that is homeless. Her acting here is why she was nominated and will continue to do well.

Of course, even though Sandra is one of the “older” Hollywood actresses, newer starlets are making a scene too. Last years “Precious” film took the world by storm when Gabourey Sidibe played the role of a pregnant and undereducated teenager. Even though she is a new star, she skyrocketed to fame. In interviews she continuously states she had no idea that she would ever become so famous. Her acting skill is sure to take her places!

Gabourey is the only new young Hollywood actress competing for an Oscar. Carey Mulligan is another new actress that is up for an Oscar thanks to her shockingly dramatic role in “An Education.” She played in British small films but “An Education” is receiving praise and significant interest thanks to the storyline and her excellent acting skill.

Next up is Penelope Cruz, a well known Hispanic actress that is always stunning on the red carpet. She is nominated for a supporting actress role for the movie “9″ and continues to awe her fans with her acting prowess. Penelope is often misunderstood as a B list star, but her acting and fashion sense definitely have the ability to make her the top of the list.

Unlike other movie stars, Mo’Nique hasn’t been in the spotlight. Even though she is well known in Hollywood, she tends to lay low. She also played in the movie, Precious, based off the novel “Push” by Sapphire. She plays the evil mother that is abusive and beats her pregnant daughter. Her role is very realistic and powerful – which is why she was nominated as a supporting actress.

Closing Comments

Hollywood actresses are constantly coming and going, but the women listed above are sure to stay in the spotlight due to their recent stunning performances for their groundbreaking films last year. Whether they are supporting or leading, they certainly deserve the fame that they worked hard for.

Should I Wear A Corset Top, Basque Or A Bustier With My Jeans?

Corsets and bustiers are very much fashionable again in 2010, it is no secret that the boom is mainly due to the popularity of celebrities like Rihanna and Lady GaGa. Celebrities know that the corset can achieve things no other garment can, they will reduce your waist instantly, improve your posture and confidence, can be eye-catching, glamorous and worn in many different ways.

But do I wear a corset top, basque or bustier lingerie? The answer to this is to define the difference between a corset top, basque and bustier. The corset top is an over garment which has the design form to sculpt the body into the hourglass shape. The bustier is an article of women’s clothing which can be worn as an undergarment or an over garment, depending on personal taste and the style.

The design of the bustier is similar to a corset, although it tends to be less restrictive. The garment extends from the bosom to the waistline, and is lightly boned. A bustier serves two primary purposes, the first function offers support to the breasts, both making the wearer more comfortable and creating cleavage, and also to shape the waistline slightly.

The fuller version of a bustier is known as a basque, the basque extends down to the hips, smoothing the body from the bosom to the hips. This garment is also not as restrictive as a true corset, but it is more limiting than a bustier. However, wearing a basque ensures that the entire waistline is smoothed, which is prefered by some women.

So when do you wear a corset top or basque, and when do you wear a bustier? The huge range of corset tops entering onto the market are transforming what women wear and when. We now have corset tops that can be worn during formal occasions, for clubwear, social nights out such as pubs or dinner parties even corsets tops for shopping.

The corset top paired with jeans is suitable for upmarket casual engagements like going out to a restaurant, to see a film, or smart-casual dinner or cocktail parties and evening functions. To help the corset effect, choose jeans with the highest waist you can find. The tummy should be completely beneath the waistband and unless your legs are thin, do not let the jeans grip onto your flesh tightly, you do not want anything bulging out.

Most women wear the bustier to be comfortable, where corset tops usually take a bit of work to put on and when worn for a long time can be uncomfortable. The key to when you wear a corset top in place of a bustier is simply dictated by how long it will be worn for, and the type of the engagement you will be attending.

Modern Classic Pinball Machines: Bally’s Cirqus Voltaire

Though there’s been a lot of consolidation in the pinball industry in recent years, the quality of modern games keeps improving. This is due, in part, to improvements in technology–though not at the expense of first rate playfield design. Pinball went through a few lean years during the early years of the video boom, when designers tried to cram as much stuff onto the playfield as possible, perhaps feeling the clutter was needed to replicate the video game experience. In recent years, however, designers appear to have concluded–and rightly so–that pinball cannot be a video game, nor should it want to be.

A great game of recent vintage is the 1997 Bally release “Cirqus Voltaire”. The theme is sort of a ‘Cirque du Soleil” on acid, and the iconography of the circus that they cram into the design and play of the game is amazing. The ultimate object of the game is to “join the cirqus”, which, of course, is a classical American archetype of freedom and escape. Yet this “Cirqus” is not a Norman Rockwell vision of juvenile fun–there are a lot of sinister undertones as well, including evil ringmasters and an almost palpable feeling of sleaze. The clowns here have more in common with the Simpsons’ ‘Krusty the Clown’ than with Emmett Kelly.

The game play offers many Williams/Bally standards, with sweeping ramp shots, clever uses of time-worn features (like the disappearing pop bumper, reincarnated here as a balloon. This feature dates back to the 1950’s and appeared on Williams “Gusher” among others), and multi-ball a-plenty.

At its nadir, pinball companies were cranking out games featuring themes and subjects that offered little, if any, synergy with game play. The low point might have been some of the celebrity tie-in games of the early eighties (which gave the world debacles like a Dolly Parton and Roy Clark tie-in). “Cirqus Voltaire” on the other hand is an almost perfect synergy of subject and gameplay experience.

The really great thing about the game is the multiple levels of contextual awareness it offers. It alternately provides a celebration and condemnation of the circus and, deeper still, of the popular culture that spawns embraces them. This is not a new notion for a pinball machine to offer different levels of interpretation of seemingly innocuous events (it dates back to the pioneering artist Roy Parker, if not before) but in recent years it may not have been done more deftly than in Cirqus Voltaire.

Family Guy Peter Is Getting Funnier Every Week.

What is going on with the family Guy Stewie character? He is smarter than the average thirty year old, never mind the average baby. This program has left more than a few questions are answered, not to mention creating some controversy.

It is more than a little bit surprising that one-year-old Stewie speaks as clearly and articulately as he does, not to mention his vocabulary. But, the British accent is the part that is really baffling. The Griffins live in Rhode Island, and anyone who has ever heard a Rhode Island accents will see how funny this is. For those who are not familiar with this accent, it is like someone developing a Texas accent while living in London. Not only that, but why is it that only Brian can understand this child? When Stewie talks do they just hear typical baby babbling, or are they ignoring him? Perhaps Stewie’s voice has some similarity to a dog whistle…

Stewie wants his mother Lois dead, or does he? Is this simply acting out behavior? Is he resentful because Lois ignores him? Or, is he truly a little monster? Is this in fact, how serial killers and dictators are created?

How is it that Brian is able to travel anywhere that he wants to alone? On trains, on airplanes, he even drives the car. Why does no one ever stop him? Why is no one surprised when they see him, or especially when he talks? Even Ted Kennedy had trouble in his life getting past airport security, but not Brian… Brian has had many girlfriends on this program. Only one of them happened to be a dog. The rest were all human women. Do they not see that he is a dog. Even while he is peeing on fire hydrants, and dragging himself across the carpet?

While on the subject of Brian, do dogs really drink so much? This may explain how he happened to meet Peter downtown, while spit washing his windshield. Perhaps this is why so many dogs find themselves in the shelters looking for homes. Maybe all they really need is a bit of time to dry out, a warm meal, and a job to go to. This all kind of makes Snoopy look like a reasonable character.

What about Meg? Why does everyone in the family hater? In fact, not just the family, but just about everyone on the show. In one episode may thinks that she is pregnant, and has a bachelorette party. Peter shows up as a male stripper… Yuck! Where the heck is DCF when you really need them?

Yes Peter is indeed a buffoon. It seems that there’s not much that he can get right. However at the same time, something very endearing about this character, which makes people root for him. Perhaps it has something to do with wanting the best for the underdog. Everything that Peter does is not completely screwed up. After all, he did take the family to Natick and found the Twinkie factory after the town blew up. Never mind what happened next, because it is typical Peter messing everything up again.

Family Guy is satirical, sarcastic, and speaks its mind even when people don’t want to hear it. Some people love it, some hate it, but most will admit, were lucky. There is a family Guy. Giggity giggity goo.

The author of this article is a big fan of family guy Stewie. He is always on the look out for more about the show. Giggity giggity.
